Iterative feature detection of a coded checkerboard target for the geometric calibration of infrared cameras

Abstract. The geometric calibration of cameras becomes necessary when images should be undistorted, image information is needed or data from more than one camera have to fused. This process often done using a target with checkerboard circular pattern and given geometry. In this work, coded for thermal imaging the corresponding processing algorithm iterative feature detection are presented. It shown that, due in particular resulting better detectability at borders, lower uncertainties estimation distortion parameters achieved.
